9 Mac 2009.. My 1st ride outside kuching.. OFFROAD at Sematan Jungle (well, not actually junglelah.. more like estate n kebun) trail. Jai, Ahim and I met at choice ria, matang @ 6.30am. Thanx to Ahim for providing the hilux to transport our bikes (notice how my orbea and jai's trekk wuz fasten to the hilux commonrail. Too bad Ahim can't ride with us due to some physiological drawbacks (lutut sakit). Our next meeting point wuz semarak joining the "Ngohet Kelab malam" geng. From there we convoy in pick-ups, cars etc to sematan pasar where we met wif ah siongs group.. total riders 60++.
The trail wuz wholesome.. gravel road, kebun nanas, kebun lada, hill paddy, kelapa sawit, sandy, tree root bumps, 3-4 rivers, uphill, downhill etc.. I peng twice doing the downhill. Luckily for my ironmag helmet no serius injuries.. few others also peng and even almost fell into 1 of the rivers..
We spent almost 5 hrs in the jungle trail.. covering bout 18 km.. Be it a lesson for me and most of us new riderz that in off-roading, water is needed a plenty. Luckily there were few stops at kanteens n shops in the trail for refill... For me the ride was gruesome and exhaustion was fast but nonetheless it was so much fun...
Lastly we made a pitstop at palm beach resort before we end at pasar sematan for ayam penyet...We reached home at about 3pm.. too tired even to sleep.. cant wait for the next offroading there... sematan offroad simply the best..
